Election Fever
Forget the race to the White House. We think we had the best presidential candidates of 2024! :)
School Leavers have the chance to run for School President and Vice President each year. Candidates came up with their own manifestos, designed election posters to reflect their views, wrote & delivered fabulous speeches to all of the classes and spoke at an assembly over the last two weeks in preparation for Election Day on Friday 20th September. Candidates also distributed Polling cards and explained the voting process to pupils and staff, even covering what would deem a vote a ‘spoiled’ vote. Organisation and security was paramount on the day and pupils even managed to foil the plan of a few ‘rogue’ voters!! Pupils have put so much hard work into their campaigns and have done themselves and St. Mary’s so proud! Congratulations to our new School President for the 24/25 school year (pictured below). Because all of our candidates created such compelling campaigns, it was difficult to choose just one Vice President so this role will be shared throughout the year, good luck to our first serving Vice President in his new role too! We look forward to seeing the impact our President and Vice Presidents will have on St.Mary’s this year! :)
