Happy St. Patrick’s Day
Beech & Whitethorn Classes
Both classes worked collaboratively to create fabulous Leprechauns and other St. Patrick’s Day themed art to display outside of their classrooms. They also created a larger piece to celebrate St. Patrick to be displayed at this afternoon’s assembly. Great team work!
Maple Class
Maple Class created some beautiful artwork to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. They explored colour mixing and shading to create the Shamrocks. They added colours like yellow, blue, brown and black to the green that they had to create lots of different shades and hues making their shamrocks beautiful and unique. To create the rainbow leading to their pot of gold, pupils enjoyed dolloping paint onto the page and using lollipop sticks to spread it out instead of a paintbrush. Great idea!
Some of the pupils in Maple Class really got into the spirit of the Green White and Gold Day, wearing clothes to represent the colours of the Irish flag. They had great fun acting like ‘trickster’ leprechauns during their photo shoot!
Ash Class
Pupils in Ash Class had lots of festive clothes and accessories today! They really got into the swing of celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, creating Leprechaun families and fabulous rainbow art while listening to some Irish Music!
Oak Class
Oak class have been very busy this week celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. They are working on experiencing, attending to and participating in celebrations as well as exploring and learning about colours. They made and tried Rainbow Milk Toast, engaged and attended to Sensory Rainbow Foam Play, enjoyed engaging with a Rainbow Rice Tuft Tray and loved dancing to Irish Music wearing their green clothes and accessories to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. They were really ‘flying the flag’ for St. Patrick’s day this week! It looks like they had so much fun and engaged in lots of important learning.
Oak Class have kindly shared the steps with us on how to create some of their sensory play activities. To learn how to make Rainbow rice have a look at our reel on Instagram. Or, if Rainbow foam is more your thing, you can find the reel for that on Facebook!
Rowan Class
Pupils in Rowan Class were decked out in Green to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. They joined in with some of Oak Class’ activities and celebrations and even managed to squeeze in some activities of their own too. Pupils enjoyed listening to and experiencing Irish Music accompanied by visuals of beautiful Irish landscapes during Art. They also experienced, attendended to and participate in a Rainbow themed experiment to investigate colour mixing using Skittles (they did have to taste test the Skittles for quality control). They even managed to engage in some colour sorting and identifying during the activity too. Who said working hard wasn’t fun?!
