Science Week at St. Mary’s

Last week was Science Week at St. Mary’s. 6th Years had lots of fun trying out some interesting experiments in class.

Why don’t you try some of these yourself at home!

 

Plastic Bag and Pencil Experiment

1.   Fill a plastic bag half full with water.

2.   Push a sharp pencil through the bag and out through the other side.

3.   Surprise! The water does not spill.

4.   See how many pencils you can push through.

5.   Make sure you hold the bag over a sink before you pull the pencils out!

Skittles and Warm Water Experiment

  1. Arrange you skittles on a plate

  2. Pour some warm water in the centre of the plate

  3. Watch what happens to the skittles.

  4. See how many different designs you can make with the beautiful colours of the skittles.
